In first place was Fergal McGowan with 41 points on a break of tie from Darragh Crawford. Third place was Aiden Canavan with 40 points also on a break of tie from fourth placed Noel McGowan. Fifth place was Patrick Butterly from Ardee Golf Club with 39 points.

The Allingham Arms Hotel sponsored the weekend’s competition.
Best score of the weekend was Frank Collins playing of one with 39 points on a break of tie. Frank opened his score with nineteen points on the front nine which included birdies at the first, second and seventh holes. He had twenty points on the back nine including a bogey at the tenth hole and birdies at fourteen and seventeen.
Second, third, and fourth places were all decided on break of tie with Eamon Stack taking second place having the better back nine. Third was Eamon Maguire and fourth Paul Doherty all with 39 points.
Fifth was Padraig Daly with 37 points.
Best gross score was John Fox with 32 gross points.
Next weekend the competition is sponsored by Seamus Evans and George Fagan and it is a single stroke format. For tee times please telephone the Pro Shop on 07198 41302.

Beginners Golf Lessons are commencing at the Golf Club for Juveniles (Under 16) on Tuesday evenings at 6.00pm and will run for three weeks.
For adults lessons will commence on Wednesday evenings at 6.30pm and will also run for three weeks. Everyone welcome.

Hon Sec does the business on Captains Day

Dan Doyle, Captain of Bundoran Golf Club held his Captain’s Prize competition on Saturday July 3rd and while the weather was mixed throughout the day, there was a fantastic array of prizes for the members to compete for.
This was a 27 hole competition where the best 24 nett scores and three best gross played a nine hole shootout for the coveted prize.
It was a delighted P.J. Davey who was declared the ‘big prize’ winner after the eleven handicapper posted a nett score of 101.5 for the 27 holes. PJ.’s first 18 hole score was 68 strokes and he had added a further 33.5 strokes for the second nine shoot out.
Second place went to one of the many juveniles’ stars of the club Aaron Robinson, not qualified to contest first prize, playing off sixteen with a fantastic score of 97 nett. Aaron had a fantastic score of 64 nett for the first eighteen holes and added a further 33 strokes for the last nine holes.
Best gross of the day went to Mathew Dunmore playing off one with a gross score of 113 for 27 holes.
Third place went to another juvenile Donagh McInerney playing off eleven with a nett 97.5
Fourth place was Reggie Gallogley with a nett 104 strokes on a break of tie from fifth placed Jim Gavigan playing off twenty also with a nett 104. The Past Captain’s prize went to Dodie Maguire with a nett 69 for eighteen holes while the senior’s prize went to Nikki Moloney with a nett 70.
The visitors prize went to Brian Cotter with 36 points.
The putting competition in aid of North West Hospice was won by Cathal Campbell.

At a packed Clubhouse the Captains wife Mary presented all the happy prize winners with their spoils before an evening of music and discussion to where it had all went awry for the majority of the field earlier in the day.

Mace Ballyshannon sponsored the Open competition in Bundoran Golf Club at the weekend which was played in reasonable weather conditions and was won by Declan Murphy from Greenore Golf Club playing off thirteen with 41 points. Declan opened his score with 19 points on the front nine with pars at the second, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth holes. His back nine was made up of birdies at the fifteenth and seventeenth holes and pars at the tenth, eleventh and thirteenth to give him 22 points.

Second place went to Seamus O’Neill playing off nineteen with 39 points on a break of tie from third placed Peter Carty also with 39 points.

Fourth place was Mark Crawford playing of five with 38 points while George Fagan playing of fourteen was in fifth place with 37 points on a break of tie.

Best gross score was Enda McFadden playing off three with 34 gross points.

Next Saturday 3rd July is Mr Dan Doyle Captain’s Day. This is a 27- hole competition and the last card is 2pm. We wish Dan a very successful day.

Bundoran Golf Club Weekend Results

The beautiful weather conditions at Bundoran Golf Club brought both members and visitors out in droves to play the links last weekend. However it was Fr. Frank McManus who took the top honours, playing off nineteen posting a winning nett 66. Frank opened his score with 44 strokes on the front nine and returned home in 41 strokes.
Second place was filled by Tom McCaughey playing off sixteen with a 67 nett on a break of tie. Tom had had 45 strokes on the front nine and clenched second place with 38 strokes on the back nine from third place Shane Feeney playing of fourteen also with a 67 nett.
Fourth and fifth places were also decided on a break of tie with Niall Doherty playing of fourteen and Liam Gillespie playing of fifteen both posting nett 68, while the best gross of the weekend was Luke Robinson playing off five with a 72.
Next weekends competition is a singles stableford competition sponsored by Mace Ballyshannon

Lady Captain’s Weekend at Bundoran Golf Club

The Lady Captain’s weekend took place at Bundoran Golf Club from Friday 11th
to Sunday 13th June.
The weekend started on Friday evening with a three club scramble over fourteen holes. Teams of four took part with the winning team of Nicky Moloney, Robert Barnes, Ann Moloney and Noreen Allen taking first place with a 44.9 nett score. Second place went to Ian and Kathleen McDaid, Pauric Murphy and Sean Culleton with a nett 45.1

Lady Captain’s prize to men was played on Saturday and the winner was Pat McEniff playing off twenty three with 41 points. Second place was George Fagan with 40 points and third was Donal Carroll playing off fourteen with 39 points.

On Sunday the Lady Captain’s prize for ladies took place with over sixty ladies playing for the coveted prize.
It was a delighted Noreen Allen playing off nineteen who took the overall first prize with 37 points. Noreen opened her score with fifteen points on the front nine but returned home with 22 points.
In second place was Mary McGonigle with 36 points on a break of tie from third placed Kay McGowan also with 36 points.
Fourth place went to Margaret Keon with 35 points.
Fifth place was Marie Begley and sixth place was Maureen Clarke.
Other prizes presented on the night were Past Captain’s Prize Cora O’Rourke, Committee member Ann O’Neill, Senior Prize Claire McGloin, and best 36 handicapper Ann Loughlin.

The Lady Captain, her guests and ladies enjoyed a beautiful meal in the Great Northern Hotel and then returned to the club house for presentation of prizes music and dancing.

Annual Golf Classic sponsored by Western Cars great success at Bundoran Golf Club

June 2nd, 2010

Th annual Golf Classic sponsored by Western Cars Enniskillen was held at Bundoran Golf Club at the weekend 29th, 30th & 31st May 2010.

Over fifty teams took part over the three day event in ideal golfing weather conditions.  The best overall team were from Strandhill Golf Club Mick Cuunane playing of 23, Joe Fitzgerald playing of 16, Jimmy Jaret playing off 19 and John J. Jinks playing of 20 with a score of 102 points. They opened the front nine with 50 points and returned home with another 52 points.
Second place went to the Frank McGloin, Ray Sherrin, Canon Munster and Reggie Gallogley who posted a score of 100 points having 48 points on the front nine and 52 points on the back nine.
Third place was a team of Mick Cahillane, Tony Ryan, Peter Loughran and Kevin O’Kelly with 100 points having 49 points on the front nine and 51 points on the back nine. Fourth place went to the team of Ian McDaid, P.J. Davey, Sean Culleton and Pauric Murphy with 96 points in total.
Fifth place went to Kevin Carmody, Niall Doherty, Sean Crawford and Danny Downey with 95 points on a break of tie from sixth placed Briani McEniff, Patrick Daly, Reggie Gallogley and Pat McEniff also with 89 points.
Best mixed team was Canon Munster, Pat Neary, Reggie Gallogley and Kathleen Connolly who scored 94 points.
The Ladies team prize went to Kathleen Moran Mary McGonigle, Josephine McGurran and Cora O’Rourke with 95 points.
Daily prizes were on Saturday; Jimmy Gallagher, Tommy Howe, Aiden Howe and Pat Cunningham with a score of 95 points.
Sunday’s prize went to Brendan McCauley, Jim Gavigan, Pat Rooney and Patsy McCauley with 95 points.
Monday’s daily prize went to Luke Robinson, Aaron Robinson, Liam Gillespie and Ronan Meehan with 95 points.

The prize giving for the classic will be held on Friday 11th June at 9.30pm.

Lynch wins Maghery House Hotel Open Competition

The Maghery House Hotel Open Stableford competition took place at Bundoran Golf Club at the weekend.
The first prize went to local man Eddie Lynch playing off nineteen with a score of 39 points on a break of tie. Opening with 14 points, he added a further 25 on the back nine where the highlights were pars on ten, fourteen, sixteen and eighteenth holes and a birdie at the seventeenth.
In second place was David Webb playing off ten also with 39 points. David opened up his score with twenty one points on the front nine prior to eighteen points on back.
In third place was Peter Curran (Snr) playing of twelve with 38 points. Peter’s nines were made up of nineteen points each nine. Fourth place went to Mark Crawford playing off five with 37 points on a break of tie. Mark had seventeen points on the front nine. His back nine was more consistent paring six holes and birding the seventeenth hole to give him 20 points on his back nine.
Nicky Maloney playing off eleven took fifth place also with 37 points. Nicky had 17 points on the front and 20 on the back nine.
Best gross was Mr. Consistent Matthew Dunmore playing off one with 34 gross points.

BUNDORAN GOLF CLUB ANNUAL GOLF CLASSIC 29th – 31st MAY.

The annual golf classic will take place at Bundoran Golf Club over three days Sat 29th, Sun 30th and Mon 31st May 2010.
This is the second year that Western Motors Enniskillen has generously sponsored this event. They are the main sponsor and Pat McCaffery is delighted to be involved for the second year running.

The format for the classic is teams of four any combination and the entry fee is great value at only €120 per team which will also include refreshments.
For those enthusiastic golfers you can re-enter as many times as you wish for only €20.

The prize fund is €1500 and there are prizes for the top six teams, mixed team prize, ladies team prize and daily prizes are all up for the taking.

Kevin wins Celtic Weave Open

Bundoran Golf Club hosted the Celtic Weave Open stroke at the weekend and Kevin McGrogan playing off fifteen emerged as the winner with a nett 69. Bursting from the traps with a birdie three on the opener, he went on to complete the front nine in 41 blows. However a super eagle three on the penultimate hole was the catalyst to his victory as he came home in 43 blows to win by one from the omnipresent Nicky Corr.
Playing off eight, Nicky opened his scoring with 42 blows on the front nine. He then proceeded to complete his back nine in only 36 strokes with pars on the twelfth, fourteenth, fifteenth and eighteenth holes being superceded with birdies on the eleventh and seventeenth holes.
Third place then went to Brendan McCauley playing off eleven also with a nett 70. Brendan covered the front nine in 39 strokes prior to requiring 42 shots for the back nine. Fourth and fifth places were also decided on a break of tie, the best of which was Gary Hegarty playing off twenty two with a 71 nett just edging out fellow twenty two handicapper Glen Mathews on the break of tie.
The Maghery House Hotel is sponsoring the singles stableford competition for the weekend 22nd and 23rd May.
