The Malboro House Open competition was staged at Bundoran Golf Club over the weekend of 25th and 26th April, where James Waters emerged victorious with an excellent nett 65 return.
Out in 40 blows, the twenty two handicapper than covered the back nine in 47 but this was still two better than Omagh based golfer Dan McNulty. Playing off nine, Dan played most solidly throughout to complete each nine in just 38 strokes which saw him secure the runners up spoils with a fine nett 67.
In third place after also carding a nett 67 was thirteen handicapper Brendan McCauley who required 42 strokes for his back nine thus losing out on the runners up spoils on the break of tie.
He was then followed home in fourth place by Eoghan O’Neill playing off fifteen who was out in 41 and back in 42 for a nett 68 to pip fifth and final nett prize winner, Oliver O’Kane also from Omagh. Playing off nineteen, Oliver was out in 42 and back in 45 to also post a nett 68.
Best gross of the day was Mathew Dunmore with a round of 74. Mathew was one under on the front nine where despite making bogey five on the first, he then birded the fifth and seventh holes. He played the back nine in three over.
Next week there is an open competition over three days and the format is singles stroke. It is sponsored by Macks Amusements Main Street Bundoran per Conor McEniff.
