Visitors take the Prizes in Bundoran

Donal Breslin sponsored the Open competition in Bundoran Golf Club at the weekend which was played in glorious weather conditions and was won by David Connellan from Athlone playing off eight with 43 points. David opened his score with 21 points on the front nine with a birdie at the second and pars at third, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth holes. His back nine was comprised of one birdie at the seventeenth, a bogy at the sixteenth and he made pars at the other seven holes.
In the final analysis, David had a clear three point winning margin over second placed Paul Cooney from Royal Tara, another visitor, who playing off ten scored 40 points, 20 of these coming on each nine.
In third place then came Donal O’Reilly playing of twenty-six with 38 points on a break of tie from fourth placed John Campbell playing off twenty-one. Donal had a consistent round off 19 points on both nines two better than John who managed 16 points on the back nine.
Frank Collins had the best gross store over the two days with 35 gross points, while fifth nett place went to Niall Greenan playing off fifteen with 36 points.
Next Saturday 4th July is Mr Patsy McCauley Captain’s Day. This is a 27 hole competition and the last card is 2pm. We wish Patsy a very successful day. On Sunday there is an open stroke competition time sheet in the Pro Shop.
