Results from Bundoran Weekend Mini Open Competition

On Friday August 21st Mace Supermarket Ballyshannon sponsored the Open Stableford competition which was won by one handicapper Gary McGloin with 37 points. Gary had eighteen points on the front nine, which included seven pars, one birdie and one bogy at the fourth hole. He completed his back nine in nineteen points.
Second place went to Greg Travers playing off six with thirty-three points having eighteen points on the front nine and fifteen on the back nine. Third place went to Chris Wilson from Newtownstewart Golf Club playing off nine with 31 points.
On Saturday August 22nd the open stroke competition sponsored by Celtic Weave China was won by the very consistent Liam Gillespie, (those lessons from David are definitely paying dividends) playing off sixteen with a nett 69 on a break of tie. Liam opened his front nine with 45 strokes and returned home in 40 blows.
Second place went again to Greg Travers playing off six also with a nett 69. Greg had 38 strokes on the front nine and 37 blows on the back nine with ensured him second on a break of tie from another up and coming junior Luke Robinson playing off eight. Luke also had 38 blows on the front nine but with two bogies and one double bogy on the back nine he slipped into third place with 39 strokes on the back nine. Fourth place was Nicky Moloney playing off ten with a nett 70 on a break of tie from fifth placed Aiden Howe playing off twenty two also with a nett 70.
Best gross of the day went to Michael Burke playing off three with a round of 72. The awful weather conditions on Sunday made play very difficult and the competition was cancelled. This competition will be played later in the year.
