After a frost delayed start to competitive matters at Bundoran Golf Club last weekend, over fifty hardy competitors took to the fairways for the club stroke competition on Sunday, where John Larkin emerged as the deserved winner!

As in the past few weekends the overall result was closely contested but John playing off twenty two was in fine fettle to win by two after posting a nett 64 return.

However once again second, third and fourth places were decided on a break of tie, and after this, Niall Doherty playing off sixteen with his 66 had the best back nine from third placed Brendan McCauley playing off thirteen also with 66. Fourth place went to eleven handicapper Nicky Corr also with a nett 66. The winners all received vouchers as well as getting the handicaps reduced!

Next weeks competitions commence on Saturday with an Open competition. For tee times please contact the Pro Shop on 07198 41302. On Sunday there will be a confined club stroke.

The first Open competition of the 2010 at Bundoran Golf Club took place on Saturday 30^th January and while the frost kept the course closed for the early morning golfers, it opened mid morning and over thirty brave golfers took to the fairways.

Best score of the day was M. Lynch from Ballybofey & Stranolar Golf Club with 40 points. Second place was Danny McLernon from Bundoran with 37 points on a break of tie from Joe Keaney Blacklion Golf Club.

On Sunday the club competition was a stroke event where Jimmy Gallagher playing off twenty one had a great score of 65 nett just piping Luke Robinson playing off eight on the break of tie after he also fired a nett 65.

Third place went to Dodie Maguire playing of sixteen, two strokes adrift of the required mark with a nett 67. However all prize winners had their handicaps reduced along with receiving vouchers for prizes.
